If you celebrate Christmas, or just like decorating for the holiday season, there’s a Scandinavian decoration for you. There are traditional decorations you’ll find in many homes from beloved Scandinavian design brands such as Royal Copenhagen and Georg Jensen, to more modern and playful items that are chosen to suit each person’s decor style. The result is a typically refined and somewhat minimalist look that melts into the fouandational decor, but still announces the holiday season. Recently we’ve seen more on-trend hues as well, including pastels, greys, and neutrals. While each country has slight variations in how they approach the decor, there’s an overall focus on natural elements like wood, flowers, and greenery, as well as a lot of the classic colors such as red, green, gold, and silver. It turned out SO GREAT – the perfect shade of pink to pull out all those vintage pops of fun colors.Īll the cuteness!! I love how the lines are all clustered together to help you pick out everything you need right there in one stop.Īnd don’t forget about other sections that aren’t holiday – like the yarn!! And the spray paint!! Love that you can grab all the craft supplies to support the DIY projects that go along with the decor.Scandinavian Christmas decorations are taken seriously across the region. I maybe could have gotten away with 1 can, but I made sure to get everywhere really well. –I used 2 cans of spray paint on this pencil tree. –Once you’ve sprayed it once, move the branches around and get all the spots that were hiding. If your tree is already white, you’re good to go! Just jump right in! –If your tree isn’t white already, you’ll want to spray it with a white primer, that will help your color pop. –if your tree is prelit, use cut straws to cover the lights (so they don’t get covered in paint) This actually isn’t my first time painting a Christmas tree □ I just love adding that unexpected pop of color!! This is the first though that I used spray paint, and it went great! A few things you’ll want to note: The stockings are hanging from hooks that I attached to the wall through the yarn, just on hooks that stick to the wall. I then used the yarn wall art as a background to hang the stockings. I left the bottom a little more wavy because I liked the texture that it added to the piece. I put a cloth over the yarn strands and ironed them to smooth them out a little. I folded the bunch in half and looped it over the dowel rod and pulled it through the loop, so it formed its own knot over the dowel. I cut yarn to twice the length of what I wanted the finished project. You know that I have to work in a DIY craft project into holiday decor – I knew I needed a large wall hanging, so DIY to the rescue! This advent calendar was especially awesome – but you know that I’m weak for advent calendars! It was so fun how the whole line of Merry Memories coordinated and played off each other – it took the guess work out of trying to figure out what would look great together, because it all went and coordinated so well! I grabbed some fun garland in pinks and some simple silver ball ornaments, but really left it for the vintage ornaments to take center stage: The ornaments are definitely the star of the show, I didn’t want to use too much else on the tree so that they could really stand out. These ornaments grabbed me right away and it’s what I based the whole scene off of – the pink in the ornaments is what led me to paint the tree pink! Aren’t they amazing?!
